Reading the sweeter German 2005s

You mentioned that you found 2005 Rieslings from Auslese upwards not all that expressive at the moment. Do you have any idea why? It would seem that the riper the wine, the more dramatic it would be.

They are certainly not short in residual sugar but they are also very high in acidity and are such babies! It has so far seemed to me that they still have so much more development to do while all their flavour compounds battle their way through that massive sweetness, acidity and often honeyed botrytis characters to meet and greet each other and turn into something...
