The ageability and potency of California Chardonnays
Martin Nettleton, Yorks: Reading last week's wine of the week I was tantalised by the mention of the Kistlers and Auberts . I have just taken delivery of some of the new vintage of both (Adrian Walsh [of Fine Food & Wine in Sheffield] of course!). Tell us more please! Do you have plans to publish notes?
me: I have to admit that I haven’t bought any Kistler recently and left my last consignment, 1996s, too long before pulling the corks. The single vineyard bottling I tried a few months ago was very definitely on the way down (unlike a 1996 Glen Carlou Chardonnay from South Africa)...
