Observations from the International Pinot Noir Celebration
Michael Alberty, Springfield IL: Last night I attended an International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) Winemakers' dinner at the home of Brian and Jill O'Donnell (Belle Pente Winery). I went into the dinner with a lot of built up anticipation because Michel Gros would be in attendance. But imagine my surprise when I saw Thomas Bachelder walk up. Thomas, the original winemaker at Lemelson Vineyards, is at the IPNC to represent Le Clos Jordanne of Ontario, Canada. Thomas was charming as always as he poured a Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay from the new project. The wines were quite good. If this is what Thomas and the winemaking team at...
