Wine store temperatures soar

Jim Arnold, London: I have not seen any comment during the recent hot weather concerning the temperature at which wine is kept by retailers. This was brought home to me just last week when visiting various different branches of Oddbins (looking for Amethystos Rose). The temperature in two of them must have been at least in the high 80s Fahrenheit, one having no temperature control at all and the other (Camden Town) with a portable air conditioning unit just inside the front door, which was wide open, and barely effective up to about three feet into the shop.
