Should screwcapped wines be tasted before being poured?

Does wine with a screwcap need to be tasted by the customer (I'm a waitress)? Or is it just going through the motions, as it can't be corked?

It's polite and sensible to give them a chance to taste it because it could have a fault that is not cork-related - oxidation for instance, or even TCA or myriad other members of our Alphabet soup guide to wine faults that is not related to cork.
