A dispassionate verdict on Washington

In wine news last Saturday you wrote "Washington I did not find as many of the passionately, doggedly ambitious producers who carry any wine region's reputation on their shoulders as I had hoped."
Spot on, as I believe the saying goes. This has been Washington's curse for decades (the contrast with Oregon is, what, Hegelian?)
The new guys are exciting, but there is a bit too much incestuous cross-comparison going on, yielding less diversity than might be...
