Overdone, overpriced, overpackaged reds
David du Roy, Brussels:
Bodegas Lan in Rioja, Culmen Reserva 1995, priced around 70 to 80 euros over here. Does this horrific wine (according to my tastebuds) ring bells with you? On top of the price, probably correlated to the weight (just over 2kg and it wasn't a magnum) of the remarkably well designed bottle, I only can describe it as pâteux , no length at all and I suspect with an alcohol degree well above the 13.5° shown on the label.
