I am delighted to see the comments in response to the reprinted article, "Not stronger but better", as we (my sommelier-consort and I) have always subscribed to this philosophy. Have any of the Chardonnay lovers tried Macon-Villages (or Macon + a commune name) from 2002? A little creamy character from lees ageing and a touch of smoke, toast and vanilla from (mostly used) French oak and, voil à , a subtle bottle of wine two can share over dinner with, perhaps, the wish for...
