Wine Spectator on NZ icons

I was surprised to find in Wine Spectator's recent report on New Zealand wines that some generally acclaimed wines (particularly within NZ) were badly received. No tasting notes, unfortunately, but the following stood out on a quick perusal (forgive me for omitting vintages, but I left my copy of WS at home):
Dry River Pinot Noir 2002 (80 points); Goldwater Cab/Merlot (low 70s); Stonyridge Larose (low 70s).
Obviously vintage...
