George Biswas, UK: Jancis, I know you will be publishing your Christmas sparkling wine recommendations in Saturday’s FT [and in wine news ]. Have you tasted the 1996s from Nyetimber recently? I visited the vineyard last week and they are very excited by the quality of the ‘96s now they have a little bottle age and think that the wines are better than the excellent ‘95s which you rated very highly a while ago. The bad news is stocks of both those vintages are running very low, the next vintage to be commercially available will be the 1998 as the 1997 was a tiny crop due to a late spring frost.
