When to drink 1999 burgundies

James Stark, UK : Having just about drunk up a small stock of 2000 red burgundies, can I ask what are your views on when the 1999 reds, and whites for that matter, will be ready to drink? me: It seems to me that most village 1999 burgundies of both colours are ready to drink, or to start drinking. Some of the premiers crus are still showing quite a bit of tannin and seem in mid-evolution as far as bouquet is concerned. I would not think of opening any grands crus yet – although I expect many a 1999 Montrachet and Corton Charlemagne has already been drunk. Much enjoyed a Louis Latour 1978...
