When to drink 1999 burgundies

Having just about drunk up a small stock of 2000 red burgundies, can I ask what are your views on when the 1999 reds, and whites for that matter, will be ready to drink?

It seems to me that most village 1999 burgundies of both colours are ready to drink, or to start drinking. Some of the premiers crus are still showing quite a bit of tannin and seem in mid-evolution as far as bouquet is concerned. I would not think of opening any grands crus yet – although I expect many a 1999 Montrachet and Corton Charlemagne has already been drunk. Much enjoyed a Louis Latour 1978...
