Regarding the recent discussion of tasting notes for older wine at http://www.jancisrobinson.com/categories/yourturn/yourturn060525 I was wondering about the mechanics of taking notes at events where superlative wines are served but which are not primarily tastings. Taking notes helps me to crisply remember the occasion (not just the wines). Also, having notes for a wide range of older wines creates a context in which to understand my own stylistic preferences.
