10th Anniversary of the DOURO BOYS

The Douro Boys (5 Quintas – Quinta do Vallado, Niepoort, Quinta do Crasto, Quinta Vale D. Maria, Quinta do Vale Meao) will be celebrating their tenth birthday on the 13th of September 2013 in the Hotel Aquapura Douro in Regua. The festivities will begin with the traditional Master Class, introducing the new wines from each estate: the white wines from 2012, and the reds from 2011. Subsequently the hall will transform itself into an auction room, where some fifty lots will be offered up for bidding, with projected prices between 250€ and 9,600€.

A total of 750 magnums of Douro Boys Cuvée 2011 and some 250 magnums of Douro Boys Vintage Port 2011 will be packaged into these fifty lots and auctioned off by Peter Mansell, wine-auctioneer from Christie’s in London. The lots will range from single bottles to 120-bottle parcels—among which nearly every lot will contain a classic Douro Boys extra: perhaps an evening with Dirk Niepoort, his Chessboard and a bottle of Colheita 1937 at a place somewhere in the world or “Fly-Fishing” accompined by João Alvares Ribeiro or two VIP-Tickets for a football match of FC Porto accompanied by the soccer enthusiast Tomás Roquette.

Should you wish to bid live via telephone on the 13th September, you must register by the 2nd of September at the latest, with the telephone number and an indication of which lots are concerned.
