MASTERCLASSES

Learn from the experts in one of our 90-minute tutored tastings.

11am: Château Margaux with Paul Pontallier £125

Château Margaux owes its unique qualities to the genius of its terroir and the passionate labour of a succession of generations. Its greatness is thanks to a combination of characteristics which are almost never found in just one wine: finesse, elegance, complexity, density, depth, length and freshness. In order to demonstrate this, managing director Paul Pontallier is pleased to share some of
the greatest recent vintages from Château Margaux, including 2009 and 2010.

Wines to be tasted include:

• Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux 2011 and 2003

• Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux 2010 and 2009

• Château Margaux 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2001
and 1996

1.30pm: Mas de Daumas Gassac with Samuel Guibert £75

The wines of Mas de Daumas Gassac in the Languedoc have become cults – a status reserved for only a few exceptional estates. Decanter columnist Michael Broadbent has described its flagship red as ‘one of the 10 best wines in the world’, while fellow Decanter writer Hugh Johnson has previously labelled the estate as ‘the only grand cru of the Midi’. In this masterclass, owner and winemaker Samuel Guibert will share its unique history and magical terroir, and why this Vin de Pays estate is now seen as one of the greats.

Wines to be tasted include:

• Mas de Daumas Gassac, Rosé Frizant 2012

• Mas de Daumas Gassac, Blanc 1995 and 2012

• Mas de Daumas Gassac, Vin de Laurence 2011

• Mas de Daumas Gassac, Rouge 1986, 1989, 1996, 2000, 2006 and 2011

4pm: Château Haut-Bailly with Véronique Sanders £95

In 1998, Château Haut-Bailly was purchased by the American Robert G Wilmers. Since then, the property has been restored and modernised and the vineyard has benefited from years of meticulous care. With all these changes, Château Haut-Bailly still conserves its traditions and elegant style of wine. Join CEO Véronique Sanders for this masterclass which will offer wine lovers a vertical tasting of Château Haut-Bailly from 2010 to 1998, illustrating the evolution of the estate during this time.

Wines to be tasted include:

• Château Haut-Bailly 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2000 and 1998
