Domaine Direct Gevrey-Chambertin Focus Tasting

Wednesday 17 June 2015

,

Domaine Direct Focus Tastings offer informal, convivial surroundings in which to enjoy some of Burgundy’s hard- to-get wines. The tastings will be led by Sara Muirhead MW who has consulted for Domaine Direct for almost a decade.

Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine-producing village in Burgundy and the acknowledgement of its extraordinary potential for viticulture goes back centuries. Its geography and geology provide the protective climate and richly- differentiated sub-soils which favour the production of complex wines. Gevrey-Chambertin has acquired the reputation as Burgundy’s ‘heavyweight’ wine-producing village, though at their best the wines are capable of displaying not only richness and power but also supreme longevity. They are some of the most satisfying, complete Pinot Noirs found anywhere.

Village, premier cru and grand cru wines will be shown, showcasing a range of vintages from the last two decades and will include Domaines Géantet-Pansiot, Denis Mortet, Frédéric Magnien, Georges Roumier (the grand cru Charmes-Chambertin 2006) and Armand Rousseau (the Gevrey premier cru Clos Saint Jacques 1999).

Full line-up of wines being shown available on request. Please email Rebecca Perry – rebecca@domainedirect.co.uk
