Esk Valley Masterclass at West London Wine School

Friday 25 September 2015

,

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Esk Valley winemaker Gordon Russell to West London Wine School, for a superb evening discovering the excellent wines of Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. We will also explore the highly reputed Gimblett Gravels area, the only region in the new world to be solely classified by soil type.

Gordon has been at the helm of Esk Valley for two decades now and is an affable character who always gives his time to chat to you. We're delighted he's able to host an evening in his packed schedule whilst he's over here in the UK.

During the tasting we will discover why Hawke's Bay has risen to be the second most important area in New Zealand for quantity but perhaps the most important of quality – especially for its red wines. We'll taste classic varieties such as Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Chardonnay and a few off-piste varietals such as Chenin Blanc and Verdelho, and we're even going to throw in a dessert wine for good measure.
