Old Italian Walkabout

Mature wine always gets us excited. While it is definitely not true that old = good, it often = very, very interesting and let’s face it, it isn’t every day that you get to pop the cork on a bottle that is 40 or 50+ years old. Those of you that attend our fine wine events will often have shared the experience of tasting some seriously old wine, but we want to bring this rarefied experience to the masses by way of another old wine walkabout. Last year we did an event that focused on old Bordeaux and Burgundy – this year we are turning our attention to Italy.

Now…we have no idea how many of these wines will be in good drinking condition. They are all from a private cellar near Lake Como and they were (correctly) stored there for many years. Most of the wines have good levels and some of them are excellent. The majority of labels are pristine. But.....we cannot guarantee anything. So, if you decide to join us at this tasting, please bear with us. Some of the wines could be past it, but then again look at the line-up – this could be the best £50 you ever spend!

We have only one bottle of most of these wines, so places are strictly limited and you would be well advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment. The format is the same as the usual walkabout events and we will be tasting the following: (drum roll please.....)
