Rhône and Loire Tasting

Monday 17 November 2014

,

The Justerini & Brooks team and our distinguished winemakers hope that you can join us at Merchant Taylors’ Hall for our biggest ever celebration of the wines of the Rhône & Loire valleys. This is a don’t miss event for anyone with even a passing interest in these two great regions, presenting a unique opportunity to taste new releases, current drinking vintages and older library stocks all side by side. The new vintage on show will be the impressive but scarce Rhône 2013s, with commentary and context provided by an accompanying selection of older vintages from nearly all our producers. Clos des Papes will be showing a vertical run of vintages, Mont Redon will have wines going back to 1990, there will be mini-verticals from Vieux Télégraphe, Jean-Louis Chave’s Hermitage Farconnet and René Rostaing’s Côte-Rôtie. Add to these established names the likes of up and coming stars like Clusel Roch, Domaine du Coulet and Domaine la Barroche – this promises to be a great celebration of very best wines the Rhône has to offer. From the Loire, the selection will span Muscadet to Sancerre and just about everything in between. There will be top quality reds from 2012, 2011 and 2010 alongside a wide range of top Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, often presented in multiple vintages, almost entirely in stock and ready to be enjoyed immediately. As usual we will have many of the winegrowers pouring their wines, keen to answer your questions about their vines and the different vintages. This is the occasion to get to grips with the different vineyards and growing conditions of these two great regions, and to gain an understanding of the growers’ expectations for the new releases.Charles Blagden from Châteauneuf producer Le Bois Pointu and Matthieu Barret from Cornas’ Domaine du Coulet will be giving masterclasses at 5.15pm and 6.15pm respectively – offering fascinating insights into their unique winemaking and philosophies.5.15pm – Charles Blagden Le Bois Pointu 6.15pm – Mathieu Barret from Domaine du CouletThere will be bread from Gail's artisan bakery, olive oil from Sicily’s Etna and cheeses from Paxton & Whitfield.Places are limited so please book your ticket now.
