Steven Spurrier Presents: Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2007 vs 1998

This exceptional evening will be presented by world-renowned wine expert Mr. Steven Spurrier. Often described as an international champion of French wine, Spurrier famously staged the groundbreaking Judgment of Paris event in 1976. Pitting wines from the United States against selections from France’s foremost estates, the result was that it helped give New World wines greater global recognition and it was of such importance that it has since been featured in a number of popular books and movies.

As an author, judge, wine educator and Consultant Editor of Decanter Magazine, Spurrier is a leading authority on fine wines and he considers Châteauneuf-du-Pape to be one of his greatest passions.

Since the immense vintage of 1998 - which was the best of the 1990s – and, with the exception of the rained-out 2002, Châteauneuf-du-Pape has had an unprecedented streak of annual successes. The pinnacle of this run was 2007, a year which has since been described by Robert Parker as The Vintage of the Century.

As a treat, Steven has also, very generously, offered to bring a surprise, special example of a mature, premium Châteauneuf-du-Pape from his own personal cellar to pour for everyone at the end of the evening.
