Tasting Wine, Talking Turkey

Tuesday 13 November 2012

,

Thanksgiving is all about food – ok, and football. But what wines go well with turkey and all the fixings? We have some great ideas for your tender Toms, savory stuffings, sweet yams, and cranberry sauce – and these should keep the in-laws happy, too!

We'll sample "traditional" feast-loving grapes, but also experiment with some different wines to make "new" traditions.

Kuentz-Bas Riesling d'Alsace? Absolutely! We'll also try a different Alsatian: Ostertag Muscat.

Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais AOC, in all its earthy goodness, is perfect with this meal – from cheese ball to pumpkin pie. How about the same grape with a bit more zing? We'll taste a sparkling gamay rose, Vin du Bugey-Cerdon from Patrick Bottex.

Typically like Pinot Noir? We think Heinrich Blaufrankisch from Austria is a superb pairing to the meal.

As for the rest of the day, good luck and keep drinking!
