WSET L4 Practice Tasting – Sangiovese vs Nebbiolo
Tuesday 29 April 2014
,
These 2 grapes are often confused during a blind tasting. We will learn the differences by focusing on wine making, context & structure. It will also be an experiment in identification of modernist vs tradionalist, long very short ageing, and big vs small oak.
We will taste 6 wines to compare & contrast the most important differences & learn how to identify them using the WSET SAT. We will also emphasise quality assessment techniques to use it for origin identification.
The session to include 30-45 minutes of theory and at least 60 minutes of tasting. Written hand-outs to be provided. Focus will be on identification, vocabulary, and to confidently assessing quality & style based on the WSET SAT Level 4.
