Some Symington vintage port plums - 2004 back to 1927
Here are my notes, as taken at a memorable tasting in London of some of the Symington family's favourite vintage ports on Sep 14, 2006 described in Reflections on significant ports, past and present . The two oldest wines were served after lunch whereas the others were served, old to young, at a sit down tasting during which the Paul'n'Johnny (Symington) roadshow entertained us with background to the wines and musings on the port trade. The purpose of the tasting, which drew an impressive slice of the UK wine trade ("because we know we're going to be served some decent wine" as one merchant put it) was apparently "to demonstrate...
