In some ways there were disappointments here in that too many of these Margaux properties seemed to have decided to go for maximum alcohol and extraction, ditching any of Margaux's distinction, but there were some lovely wines too. Malescot stood out, Rauzan-Ségla was commendable, d'Issan did a good job showing proper Margaux delicacy, Palmer produced two quite different, very voluptuous but well-judged wines while Ch Margaux istelf, at least on the morning I tasted it, was absolutely stunning. You have to feel extremely sorry for the likes of Ch d'Issan that was hit particularly...
