Leiwener Laurentiuslay, that's to say the Laurentiuslay vineyard on the opposite side of the serpentine Mosel river from the village of Leiwen in the Middle Mosel, is a long, steep, narrow strip of vines that fall away cliff-like to the river below and produce rich, full-bodied Rieslings thanks to the south- and south-west facing lie of the land and the dark, decomposed slate that stores daytime heat and gives it back at night....
