German Pinots bedazzle
While our forum is abuzz with impatience for our tasting notes on Burgundy 2010s and enthusiasm for German wine , it seemed appropriate to share notes on this tiny but glamorous collection of German Pinot Noirs.
I am indebted to our German specialist Michael Schmidt, who kindly gave me the chance to taste a mature wine from Jean Stodden in the light of the results of a recent blind comparison of top German Pinots with their peers (see German Pinot Noir does itself a favour ). The picture shows the steep Ahr Valley, where both Schmidt and Stodden are based.
