Bordeaux 2002 at 10 years old
For the third time, fine-wine traders Bordeaux Index held a Ten Years On tasting of top red bordeaux earlier this month. Alas the 2002s did not provide the pleasure that both the 2001s and the 2000s did in the two previous years. It is difficult to view this vintage with real relish. The most famous wines seem ridiculously overpriced while most of them seem light on aroma and flesh, while seeming a bit tart. It was perhaps because of this that in general the right-bank wines with their extra flesh seemed a little more appealing. Tomorrow I'll be publishing my tasting notes, made in very much less clinical surroundings...
