Bordeaux 2001 gets better and better

This month, as well as the substantial look at Bordeaux 2002s at 10 years on, which I reported yesterday, I had the chance to re-taste a selection of almost 30 of the top Bordeaux 2001s – which necessarily includes some sweet whites as well as reds.  Below are the notes I took, with great difficulty, when they were shown during the aperitif gathering at the Savoy hotel in London prior to The Wine Dinner, a charitable event organised by wine merchant Johnny Goedhuis.  I describe this and the 2002 tasting in more detail in Which vintages of bordeaux to drink now .
