Our erudite monthly columnist Alex Hunt MW has a day job. He's the head buyer for Berkmann Wines, one of the most senior and more successful wine distribution companies in the UK. Its annual turnover at just under £40m is apparently slightly lower than that of Liberty Wines, definitely lower than that of Enotria now that they have absorbed Great Western Wines (a company Berkmann's founder Joseph Berkmann claims to have helped before it was sold to Enotria), and considerably lower than that of Bibendum Wine.
