Keller's magical Hubacker Riesling GG 2001-2011

It is always a pleasure to taste some of the finest dry wines in Germany. On the last weekend of August I had the huge pleasure of spending the Saturday with Klaus Peter Keller of Rheinhessen and the Sunday with the Dönnhoffs and Schönlebers of the Nahe, in both cases spending much of the time walking the vineyards In the case of Keller, we didn't walk his famous Hubacker, Kirchspiel, Morstein and Absterde vineyards in the far south west of Rheinhessen, but instead tramped the much steeper and more historically famous slopes of the Roter Hang, overlooking the Rhine, just north of Nierstein a good 20 to 30 minutes' drive...
