Every year Langton's auctioneer Andrew Caillard makes a selection of the best reds produced in the Gimblett Gravels unofficial subzone of Hawke's Bay on New Zealand's North Island. The following notes are those I made on his 2012 selection, to which I have added notes on a later release sent directly to me from the historic Mission winery, which made two of my favourite wines described below.
