A Moncuit champagne bargain

If you visit this site at all frequently you'll know what a fan I am of Pierre Moncuit's refined Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs champagne. Moncuit's UK importers H & H Bancroft are offering a special deal on Moncuit's 1995 vintage until 22 jul, a week on Friday. You can buy a case including VAT and UK delivery for £270 instead of the usual retail price of £300 (not excessive anyway). The offer price works out at just £22.50 a bottle. To take advantage of this offer, email cdehaan@bancroftwines.com.

For my reaction to this wine when tasted blind alongside all sorts of glorious labels, see Champagne shootout 95 v 96. Here's my specific tasting note from it, as written on the day:

Pierre Moncuit, Cuvée Millésimée Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs 1995 17 Drink now-2010
Highly perfumed, almost aggressive mousse at first which slowed perceptibly in the glass. Very fruity – a surprisingly rare tasting note for champagne! Dense and lively. Easy to like and already reasonably easy to read. Bright.

Note that I preferred Moncuit's 95 to the 96 last nov.
