Best burgundy 2006 buys Part 2

Tuesday’s tastings reinforced my impression that many white 2006s are atypically ripe and friendly – perfect for newcomers to the style of white burgundy and for relatively early drinking, not so good for long-serving white burgundy buyers and cellarers. Mind you, the confidence of the latter must have been shaken by all the shocks we have had over the past few years with so many white burgundies, especially but not exclusively the 1996s, having shown signs of early ageing and random oxidation.
 
The reds for once seem much more varied with no shortage of rather scrawny and unfriendly wines...
