Bordeaux 2010 – tannin alert

Image

Stéphane Derenoncourt (pictured) warned that the 2010 primeurs will be very difficult to taste at this early stage and I certainly concur. All that tannin, alcohol and acidity! Certainly early analyses showed extremely high IPT (index of total phenolics) readings. See for example this early report and the one signalled from it.

For background to Derenoncourt, see Derenoncourt – the new Michel Rolland? published in 2004, and for a list of the properties he consults at (along with the consultancies of Rolland, Thunevin and de Boüard), see today's Bordeaux – who consults whom?.
