Clos Ouvert and Envinate – flying light

The trend towards making fresher, more terroir-driven, less 'winemakered' wines continues. It was already evident in practically all regions when I was researching the latest, seventh edition of The World Atlas of Wine. But here are notes on a couple of producers who exemplify the trend.

I have to admit that Clos Ouvert of Maule in Chile and the winemaking team of Envinate have little in common other than this transparency in their wines, an apparent aversion to conforming to appellation rules and, presumably, the ability to speak Spanish.
