Howard Park and Madfish lose winemaker

Highly regarded Michael Kerrigan has resigned as chief winemaker at Howard Park in Western Australia after working there for 12 years. He has long, famously, spent much of his time travelling around Margaret River and Great Southern overseeing the vineyards that supply the Howard Park and Madfish labels.

He announced his resignation on Wednesday and starts work at the much smaller Hay Shed Hill operation on Monday. Hay Shed Hill was recently bought by West Cape Howe of Demark on the south coast of WA. Gavin Berry (formerly of Plantagenet) is currently CEO at West Cape Howe. He and his wife Gill Graham own Mt Trio which is based on their Porongurup vineyard.

It is understood that Kerrigan has been looking for a position offering more job satisfaction for some time.
