After the excellent Chardonnay tasting, Day 4 of the Landmark Australia tutorial continued with a blind tasting of Pinot Noir, selected and introduced by Tom Carson, chief winemaker at Yering Station for 12 years and now at the helm of Yabby Lake and Heathcote Estate. (See here for Jancis's profile of Carson.) Here are two extracts from his presentation: the first is a brief history of Pinot Noir in Australia, the second on 'how Australia gets its coolness'. See here for my tasting notes.
