I find myself more excited about the range of wines being made around the world from Sauvignon Blanc grapes than I ever have before. There was a time not that long ago when we seemed to have little choice other than between rather too reticent, and sometimes just plain dull, Sancerres and Pouilly-Fumés on the one hand and pungent asparagus-juice-like wines made in the image of Marlborough Sauvignon.
