New books in Dutch and German

Autumn means a new crop, not just of grapes but of wine books. In my case, this autumn's harvest includes a very handsome first-ever Dutch edition of the Oxford Companion to Wine from publishers Spectrum (the same name as some ambitious new California entrants into the international auction scene). You can see the jacket here. This is a slightly condensed version of the Companion (full-length English version available online exclusively to Purple pagers here) but I know it has been translated and edited with extreme love and care.

Meanwhile my estimable German publishers Hallwag have just brought out a brand new, fully updated version of Jancis Robinson's Wine Course, which they call Das Hallwag Handbuch Wein. While I was in Berlin recently I was involved in making this short film about it.
