Noble Rot times two

2 Oct later - French silliness rules! The case against Olivier has been put back until 5 March 2014. More details here.

Olivier Cousin, winemaker provocateur in the Loire valley, is planning a picnic in front of the Angers courthouse today where judgement on his mislabelling is expected at 2 pm. See the background to a case that should surely not have reached this stage in French silliness over AOC.

You can read even more detail by Loire and wine crime specialist Jim Budd here. Jim is the scourge of true wine fraudsters but is clearly deeply sympathetic to Cousin. I wonder whether Cousin will use the crowd-sourcing site to help him pay any fine?

Incidentally, one Kickstarter project I have recently supported and suggest you may like to do the same, is to provide some solid financial backing for the refreshing new, ad-free wine magazine Noble Rot. They need £8,000. They have already raised more than £7,000 and the Kickstarter campaign expires in 19 days. Give them a dime to keep wine commentary fresh, independent and lively here.
