Parker adds to his team

As predicted on purple pages last November (your turn), Robert Parker has added to his team an expert on Italian wines, Daniel Thomases.

I'm thrilled about this international recognition for Daniel, an American living in Florence, who works or has worked extremely hard and conscientiously for, among other things, the annual Veronelli guide and The Oxford Companion to Wine. I just hope he can find the time to do all the tasting and writing for Parker's newsletter The Wine Advocate as well as completing the first-ever Oxford Companion to Italian Wine. (I am so conscious that there are not nearly enough good books in English on the current Italian wine scene, that I have a strong personal interest in having this book by my side as soon as possible.)

Daniel joins Pierre-Antoine Rovani who is already charged with reporting on Burgundy, Germanic wines and, I believe, those of Iberia for the Advocate. This leaves Parker free to devote even more time to Bordeaux, the Rhône and California, subjects about which he writes with such passion and diligence.
