Croatia, land of plenty: landscape, culture, wine, truffles, olive oil and consonants. Her only paucity, in fact, is vowels. Prplxngly, mny sntncs lk smthng lk ths. Such vernacular makes wine labels appear somewhat enciphered to the Latinate reader, but the liquid itself is happily more accessible. Malvazija Istarska or Plavac Mali (white and black grapes respectively) might not be your instinctual choice from a wine list but, like free wifi in airports (kudos to Zagreb – Heathrow take note), they make for welcome discoveries.
