Royal white burgundies

Last week I published tasting notes from a blind tasting of New World white wines that had been presented as possibilities for the Queen's cellar and dining table. At the same time, we blind tasted the following range of white burgundies, all of them retailing at almost twice the price of the New World wines – roughly £25 to £50 a bottle.

I must say that I found the New World wines better made overall, even though there was obviously some exciting raw material in these white burgundies. When these white burgundies were good, they were very very good but...
