Russian vineyard & cellar


I'll be writing about my trip to Russia's Black Sea coast in much more detail the week after next, but here's a visual flavour of Fanagoria, a winery in the most wonderfully atmospheric location between the Asov and Black Seas where the Ancient Greeks grew vines.  The men in black in the picture are the head of the board of directors, Ivan Vassilevsky in front of the head of viticulture, Alexander Muzichenko and, I was told,  ex KGB.  Although I was also told that this is hardly an exclusive qualification.
