20 Feb - I have been surprised and delighted by the positive reaction to these short films of ancient, British machines solidly going about their business at far more than 100 years old. Admittedly the enthusiastic respondents have all been men, but one of them remarked on what a pleasure it was to have a change from wine-related hardware.

My only trip to the opposition, a tea estate, was recently in Sri Lanka at Handunugoda Tea Factory, Tittagalla, Ahangama, just south of Galle, pictured above left. Their speciality is white tea.

Here are two short flims I made there with the owner Herman Gunaratne. Note what a lot of very old British hardware is still involved in producing Ceylon tea.
