Over a year ago, Andrew Jefford, sherry specialist Jesús Barquín, Portuguese specialist writer and now wine producer Richard Mayson and I spent a Friday tasting (blind) almost 40 top-quality strong and sweet wines from both hemispheres under the auspices of the magazine World of Fine Wine. Such are the exigences of its publishing schedule that the results have only just been published, which is why I am sharing my delighted tasting notes with you only now.
