Friedrich Schiller, the eighteenth-century German poet and philosopher, said, ‘There is no causality, what we see as chance arises from a deep source.’ That is how I felt after receiving Jancis’s email suggesting I write an article about the rise of Xarel-lo as a preferred grape to produce still wine in Catalunya.
