5 Decades of Lynch Bages with Richard Brazier

If any Chateau’s positioning in the Medoc 1855 classification highlights just quite how outdated it is then Lynch Bages (along with Grand Puy Lacoste) would be the one. Rated a 5th growth in 1855, it is has been for the last few decades a definite Super Second. The rather backhanded compliment of being a poor man’s Mouton is also outdated, the consistency the Chateau has shown over recent generations Mouton Rothschild can only dream of. As a classic Pauillac it has the ability to age with the best of them and yet there is sufficient fruit and balance that when young Pichon Lalande can also be enjoyed in their youth. Brilliantly made, symbolically their labels do not change and nor does their quality.
We will be looking at 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1996, 1990, 1985, 1982, 1970 & 1966.
