Argentina Fine Wine: The Big & the Best

Tuesday 14 May 2013

,

We are delighted to announce another exciting South American tasting focussing on the uber-trendy Argentina. We have teamed up with Ruta 40 who deal exclusively in small family-owned boutique wineries from the Mendoza and Salta provinces. The Ruta 40 philosophy is clear 'no middlemen, no silly deals. Simply direct supply of some of Argentina's finest wines straight from the bodega itself.' This is a wonderful opportunity to put this philosophy to the test and sample a selection of premium and fine Argentinian wine ranging from £12 to £30 a bottle with a special wine to taste worth $500!

Ruta-40

The energetic Christian Rothhardt is the brainchild behind the newly-formed Ruta-40 who has driven over 5,000 long miles in Argentina sourcing the finest wine for his portfolio. Indeed this gave birth to the company name, Ruta-40, the name of the longest road in Argentina. To even be considered for Ruta-40 the bodega (winery) must be family-owned and not exceed a production over 300,000 bottles annually (very small!) – this is boutique production. From Argentine classic grape varieties such as Malbec and Torrontes to unusual ones such as Nebbiolo and Tempranillo there is a wide diversity to be found within Ruta-40.

We're very excited about this one!
