James’s tour of Burgundy continues as we head into the Cote de Beaune. The quiet village of Aloxe Corton nestles below the Corton hillside. The commune is unusual in having three chateaus including the magnificent Chateau Gramercy belonging to Louis Latour, Chateau Corton Andre and Chateau d’Aloxe Corton. These have a distinctive appearance with their green and yellow and russet enamelled tiles. Aloxe Corton is home to the Grand Cru’s Corton and Corton Charlemagne. Corton is the only red Grand cru in the cote de Beaune, twenty five climats are entitled to use the prefix Corton. The Corton hillside covers over a 120 hectares and produces a large variety of styles due to varying micro climates and soil types.

We will taste: 11 wines including Bonneau Du Martray Corton Charlemagne 2010, 2008, 1996, Bonneau Du Martray Corton, Chandon Briailles, Corton Bressandes 1996 Chandon Briailles Corton Clos du Roi 1996, Louis Latour Corton Grancey, Louis Latour Corton Charlemagne
