“EnoClub Rebooted” At Polpo @ Ape & Bird – The Islands
Wednesday 5 August 2015
,
With a ruggedly mountainous interior ringed by a thin strip of beautiful coastline, Sicily’s agriculture, given its rich volcanic soil and warm climate, remains an essential part of the economy. The island has many indigenous grape varieties, such as Nero d’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Inzolia, Grillo and Cataratto.
Inaccessible and remote, despite its tumultuous history of invaders and colonisers, Sardinia remains stoically unaffected and has retained its own cuisine and own distinctive culture. Vermentino, Malvasia and Moscato are the main white grapes with the red wine being dominated by Cannonau.
In addition to the welcome apéritif, you’ll be tasting 6 wines each evening, introduced by our entertaining and expert wine host, James Wills. Ape & Bird will be serving their delicious sharing platters throughout the evening so you’ll be suitably fed and watered.
